About Ghana Energy Awards

The Energy Personalities Outreach Programme (EPOP), a flagship initiative of the Ghana Energy Awards, is committed to bridging the knowledge gap between the youth and leaders of Ghana’s energy sector. For the past five years, this programme has provided a unique platform for the Energy Personality of the Year Male and Female award winners to engage with students across the country.

EPOP offers an opportunity for award-winning energy sector leaders to visit second-cycle educational institutions and interact with students in meaningful ways. The aim is to inspire and equip the youth with the necessary knowledge and motivation to pursue careers in the energy sector.

Prominent figures from the energy sector have featured in the programme, including:

  • Alfred Ofosu-Ahenkorah (former Executive Secretary, Energy Commission)
  • Kate Quartey-Papafio (CEO, Reroy Group)
  • Ing. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa (Former Chief Executive, Volta River Authority)
  • Abigail Asolange Harlley (CEO, AI Energy Group)
  • Fred Oware (former Chief Executive, Bui Power Authority)
  • Mami Dufie Ofori (former Executive Secretary, Public Utilities Regulatory Commission)
  • Cynthia Lumor (Deputy Managing Director, Tullow Ghana)
  • Edwin Provencal (former Managing Director, Bulk Energy Storage & Transportation Company)
  • Kadijah Amoah (CEO, Pecan Energies Ghana)

Schools visited by EPOP have included Achimota Senior High School, West Africa Senior High School, St. Mary’s Senior High School, Nungua Senior High School, Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, and Wesley Grammar Senior High School.

The programme is designed into various impactful sessions, such as:

  • Character Trait Development: Helping students build the right mindset for success.
  • Path to Tertiary Education Clinic: Guiding students in their academic pursuits.
  • Energy Sector Prospects: Providing insights into the opportunities within the energy industry.
  • Interactive Entertainment: Engaging students through fun and relatable activities to make learning enjoyable.

EPOP continues to empower the next generation of energy professionals and enthusiasts, fostering the development of future leaders in Ghana's energy sector.
